Americano coffee, also known as Caffè Americano, American Coffee, or simply Americano, is the world's most popular kind of coffee after the Italian espresso.

Americano = Espresso + Water

Americans typically weren't "tough enough" to drink straight shots of espresso like Europeans so they put water with espresso, which is why it is now called “Americano”.

The drink consists of a single or double-shot of espresso brewed with added hot or cold water.
